Baumann, PhD, PE (baumannh@comcast. net), a former vice president of Fisher Controls and Masoneilan Co., was founder of the Bau - mann Valve Co. He is credited with more than 100 U.S. patents and wrote eight books (among them the Control Valve Primer). His honors include be - ing an honorary member of ISA, ASME, the Fluid Controls Institute, and the Spanish Chemical En - gineering Society. He was named one of 50 most important innovators and is a member of Sigma Xi, besides being an inductee of the Automation Control Hall of Fame. For many years, he repre - sented the U.S. at the IEC International Standards Committee on control valves.
